Age Calculator

The Age Calculator computes the exact difference between your date of birth and a target date (today by default). It works by first counting the number of full years that have elapsed, then counting full months within the remaining period, and finally counting the leftover days. This approach ensures that the result correctly reflects calendar months of varying lengths — for instance, a month starting on January 31 and ending on February 28 counts as exactly one full month. All arithmetic respects the Gregorian calendar, and every calculation runs entirely in your browser so no personal data ever leaves your device. You can also set a custom target date to find out how old you were — or will be — on any specific day in history or in the future.

Leap years are years divisible by 4, with the exception of century years that are not divisible by 400. Under these rules, the year 2000 was a leap year, but 1900 was not, and 2100 will not be either. Our calculator uses the built-in JavaScript Date object, which implements the full Gregorian calendar including leap year rules, so February 29 is counted when it exists. If your birthday falls on February 29, the calculator still increments your age each year — on March 1 during non-leap years. The "leap years lived through" fun fact counts every February 29 that occurred between your date of birth and the target date, giving you a precise tally of those rare extra days you have experienced in your lifetime.

The calculator displays two zodiac systems. The Western zodiac is based on the position of the sun at the time of your birth and divides the year into twelve signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign spans roughly 30 days. The Chinese zodiac, on the other hand, follows a 12-year cycle where each year is associated with an animal: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Our calculator uses the Gregorian birth year to determine the Chinese zodiac animal, which is a simplified but widely accepted approximation. Baby Boomers were born between 1946 and 1964, a period marked by a significant increase in birth rates following World War II. Leap year counts are precise because they are calculated day-by-day using calendar rules.
